ARCHDL Participants Revealed!
11 Feb 2009 @ 1:58 PM
Our most-favorite time of every year is when the participants of LVHRD’s ARCHDL are announced. Last February, we dragged criticizer William Bostwick to see (winners) Konyk and (losers) FXFOWLE dismantle the Trans-Alaska pipeline in favor of a “wildlife research center,” which model they constructed entirely out of straws. This year, Weiss/Manfredi, the landscape-loving firm responsible for Seattle’s art-is-really-fun Olympic Sculpture Park and a wack-tastic proposal for a Korean Taekwondo Park will face up against the food-blogging snack-searching Wallpaper*-sanctioned Front Studio.
We’re holding back on the Edificial endorsement until we see what happens, as our love for Weiss/Manfredi is matched, oddly enough, only by our devotion to Front. And we’ll be there next Tuesday, at an undisclosed location in DUMBO, as the two take on what LVHRD will say only is a “recession-themed” material.
ARCHDL V? YSPLS.
