Miroiterie.jpgAnd now a message from our inner PR copywriter:

What is Flon? Flon is elegance. Flon is future. Flon is a way of being in the world—but not this world. Another world. Another sun. Another breathable atmospheric layer of sophistication. Welcome, Earthling. Welcome to Flon.

Let us explain…

Flon is a district of Lausanne on Lake Geneva, a former industrial quarter of about twelve acres right in the center of town. Over the last several years, the city has redeveloped Flon into a commercial and residential hub featuring twelve new or refurbished buildings, and now the whole project is nearing completion. Above is the crowning jewel, architecturally speaking: Le Miroiterie, by Brauen + Wächli, a retail facility whose inflatable facades are supported by an automatic air control system.

Here’s a view down the district’s central axial street:

Here’s Les Colonnades, a mixed-use building by Plancherel and Schmid:

And here’s L’arbe de Flonville, by Oloom & Samuel Wilkinson, a little street furniture located in Flon’s easternmost plaza:
