Designers to Watch, Introducing
Designer to Watch: Simon Boudvin

New obsession: A tipster turned us on to 29-year-old French architecte-provocateur Simon Boudvin. Boudvin may owe something to Mesarchitecture, the Parisian firm of architectural wildcat Didier Faustino where Boudvin interned in 2005. Most of the best images on his site, however, predate his term there—and even if they didn’t they’d still be original: a multiplex that revives Venturian post-modernism even as it poisons it with mordant wit; a colossal monument to failed infrastructure; collective housing disguised as a pile of suburban homes, like children standing on each others’ shoulders under a trench coat. Which of these pictures are real, and which are Photoshop? Which of his sculptures were serendipitous discoveries, and which were deliberate inventions for his gallery shows? We want. To know. Everything.
